148th Annual Communication
This year our Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia held its Annual Communication to coincide with the 275th Anniversary of Freemasonry in Nova Scotia. The first lodge was established in Annapolis Royal so that is where we went for this very important meeting. Many of the meetings were held in Digby but the parade and Sunday service were held in Annapolis Royal.
Our District has a new brother in Grand Lodge. Alexandra Lodge #87's VW Bro. Darrell Jones was made Grand Steward!
Below are pictures submitted by our own Past Grand Master, MW Bro. Barry Imber. The slide show is taken from Youtube.
The District Deputy Grand Masters are sworn in. RW Bro. George Anderson, DDGM for Cumberland is third from right.

Cumberland District Annual Church Service
On a sunny Sunday in May, 16 of the brothers from the Cumberland District lodges met in Amherst to attend our Annual Church Service. This year the service was held at the Anglican Christ Church in Amherst. We met at the Amherst Masonic Temple and paraded over to the church for their 11:00am service. We were welcomed by the ministers, Rev. Charlotte Ross and Archdeacon Glenn Eason.
Below is a thank-you from our DDGM:
The annual District Church Service took place at Christ Church in Amherst on May 19, 2013 to celebrate the Pentecost.
Masons met at the Amherst Masonic Temple and marched to Christ Church for the 11:00am service.
I would like to thank all of the Brethren who were able to attend and participate.
Special thanks go out to VW Bro. Warren Chapman who worked with the Arch-Deacon Glenn Eason to coordinate the service. Thanks to VW Bro. Chapman, VW Bro. Ned Douglas and Bro. R. Wayne Tibbets for their lovely readings.
A donation will be made to Christ Church on behalf of Cumberland Masons to show our appreciation.
Sincerely and Fraternally,

King Edward Hosts Master Mason Degree
At 1:00pm on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, King Edward Lodge #86 in River Hebert put on a Master Mason Degree with brethren from nearly every lodge in our Cumberland District plus visitors from Welsford Lodge #26 in Windsor.
This was a very special degree as there were four new brothers raised! Two from King Edward, one from Wallace and one from Widow's Son. The three lodges joined together to put on this degree with brothers from all three taking part with the leadership of King Edward. The degree work as well as the Drama were performed very well and greatly enjoyed by all who attended.
Below are the new Master Masons with the brothers who conducted the Degree and Drama. To see a few shots of the brothers who attended click on the small pictures.
After the lodge work was finished we were all invited down to the hall for a delicious Pot Luck Lunch.
L to R: RW Bro. Alan Linkletter (Worshipful Master for the Degree), Bro. Tom Mattinson from Widow's Son, Bro. Jarred Codling and Bro. William Cobbett both of King Edward, Bro. Paul Smith from Wallace and VW Bro. Dale Porter (King Solomon for the Drama).
